In combination with the chalky soils, the mild weather allows for the production of elegant wines. João Barbosa masters this discipline perfectly, as his Ninfa Colheita Red Wine clearly demonstrates. The Berço Branco from Alves de Sousa showcases the modern Douro signature: mineral, complex, and delicately shaped by oak. Originating from high-altitude Douro vineyards on slate-rich soils, the wine is made from indigenous grape varieties and partially fermented and aged in wood, which gives it structure, complexity, and subtle spice.
On the nose, citrus (lime), chamomile, white pepper, and delicate toasted notes, carried by clear freshness and elegance.
On the palate, dense yet precise, with saline minerality, fine texture, and a long, structured finish.

The Quinta da Caldas is located directly on the Douro in a warm area. The soil is, of course, made of slate, but it has a relatively high clay content. These conditions guarantee full-bodied, well-rounded wines. The Caldas is pressed from the traditional grape varieties Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, and Tinta Roriz. It comes from rather low-lying areas in the Douro river valley from over 20-year-old vines. Thanks to stainless steel tank aging, it brings a lot of fruit and freshness, and a dark berry aroma. A great wine for a barbecue and a perfect option for anyone looking for a full-bodied everyday wine.
