The summer of 2019 in the Douro region was extremely hot and dry. However, a cool and wet spring and winter ensured that the vines did not suffer from the heat. After the early harvest at the end of August, the grapes were treated in the traditional manner: trodden and fermented in granite lagares at the winery. After fortification, the base wine is transported to Porto, or rather Vila Nova de Gaia, where it matures at a constant, mild temperature and high humidity. The result is an enormously complex Vintage Port with aromas of lavender, rosemary, blueberries, black and red cherries, and a long, mocha-dominated finish.

The Pedro Ximenez Sherry from Las Botas is a grand sherry made from the Pedro Ximenez grape variety of the same name. The sweet and aromatic sherry is characterized by its intense dark color and rich aroma profile. On the nose, the Pedro Ximenez Sherry unfolds enticing aromas of dried fruits such as raisins, dates, and figs. These fruity notes are accompanied by subtle nuances of caramel, toffee, and chocolate, which give the sherry a seductive sweetness. On the palate, the Pedro Ximenez Sherry impresses with its velvety-sweet texture and full body. The taste of dried fruits continues and is complemented by a pleasant honey note. The depth of flavor and sweetness of the sherry are balanced by a fine acid structure, which gives the wine a certain freshness. The Pedro Ximenez Sherry from Las Botas is perfect as a digestif. It also pairs wonderfully with desserts and chocolate-based sweets. Here are some recommendations: Chocolate Cake with Berry Compote: The rich aromas of Pedro Ximenez Sherry perfectly complement the intense flavor of a chocolate cake. The fruity berry compote provides a refreshing note. Crème Brûlée: The caramelized sweetness of the Crème Brûlée harmonizes wonderfully with the caramel and toffee-like aromas of the sherry. The creamy texture of the dessert contrasts with the silky consistency of the sherry. Salty Blue Cheese with Walnuts: The sweet and nutty nuances of Pedro Ximenez Sherry pair excellently with a strong blue cheese. The walnuts provide an additional crunch and pleasant bite. Enjoy the Pedro Ximenez Sherry from Las Botas lightly chilled at a temperature of about 12-14°C to fully bring out its aromas. This sherry is a true delight for lovers of sweet and aromatic wines. This release is also a huge success!

Saca 2017 with only 900 bottles of 0.5l! This wine was selected from 10 casks from the 1920s at Bodegas Yuste. It was initially aged under flor yeast, followed by an extended oxidative phase. This is simply a sensational wine. Incredible complexity, rare finesse, and almost endless length. The Amontillado from the 2017 Saca is among the very best white wines we have ever tasted. In this context, its price is almost a joke! Be sure to enjoy it from sufficiently large white wine glasses at a drinking temperature of about 12-14°C. Absolutely do not serve in Sherry Copitas!
