Muscadet/Melon de Bourgogne

Alcohol content: 12.5% vol
One of the most beautiful expressions of the Melon de Bourgogne grape variety, also known as Muscadet. The grapes for Melonix grow on the best Muscadet terroirs, but the wine is labelled as Vin de France because it is not considered typical enough for Muscadet by the local control commissions. Therefore, it does not bear a vintage on the label. However, we can reveal that it is made entirely from grapes harvested in 2021. One of the special features of Melonix is the complete or almost complete absence of sulphites, depending on the vintage. The wine presents itself with a mineral bouquet, hints of nuts and citrus fruits. On the palate, it is bone dry and has a fresh yet mild acid structure. Here, too, minerality is the defining characteristic. Excellent with seafood and fish. Melonix tastes very good in its youth, but also has astonishing ageing potential.

The 2021 Saumur-Champigny Clos de l’Echelier comes from chalk and clay soils with only 30–40 cm of topsoil directly above the chalk rock. The biodynamically cultivated vines produce grapes with great tension and clarity. Fermentation is spontaneous in conical wooden vats at 16–24 °C, with a restrained aging process to preserve the vintage's freshness and energy.
The nose reveals redcurrant, sour cherry, and a hint of citrus zest. On the palate, the wine is clear, precise, and juicy. The texture is polished, the acidity invigorating, the finish racy and deeply mineral – a distinctive expression of its terroir.
